Alcorn County playoff picture taking shape for baseball and softball
The playoffs are here and the playoff picture is mostly in focus for Alcorn County teams.
Below are matchups and scenarios:
Kossuth baseball clinched the #1 seed in region1-3A with their win over Alcorn Central last Thursday. The Aggies got 5 shutout innings from Hunter Hutchens and scored 5 runs in the top of the 7th inning to come away with the win. Bryson Jackson led at the plate with a pair of hits and 2-RBI. The Aggies take on Byhalia in the opening round of the playoffs.
Kossuth Softball got a thrilling win over Mantachie with an Ava Meeks walk off hit to win the game. They have a chance to claim a district title when they take on the Lady Mustangs on the road in the final district game of the year. They can finish anywhere from 1st to 3rd in their district depending on the outcome.
Biggersville baseball finished the district season undefeated and are the #1 seed in 1-1A. They will take on Smithville to open the playoffs.
Biggersville softball finished as the #2 seed in 1-1A and they will take on HW Byers to open the playoffs on Friday.
Alcorn Central advanced to the 3A playoffs as the 4 seed and they take on Independence in the opening round.
Corinth softball claimed the 1-4A district crown and they get an opening round bye.
Corinth baseball are the #2 seed in 1-4A and they will take on North Pontotoc in the opening round.
