Biggersville gets split over Falkner in basketball action
Biggersville got a split in high school basketball action over Falkner on Tuesday with the boys taking a resounding victory and the girls falling.
The Lions used stifling defense from the half court trap and a big game from senior Laquonn Mayes to secure the 74-48 victory.
Biggersville jumped out to a 14-5 first quarter lead and led 27-16 at halftime before blowing the game open in the third quarter by outscoring Falkner 33-13.
The win moved the Lions to 6-1 on the season.
In girls action, the Lady Lions came up just short against the Lady Eagles, falling 59-44. The game was tied at 12 after the first quarter with senior Madison Basden leading the way with 8. A slow start in the second quarter saw Falkner take a 32-22 lead into halftime and Biggersville was not able to recover. Basden finished with 16 and Amber Duncan had 18 in the losing effort.
