Central Eyes Break-Even Mark as Four Home Volleyball Matches Lead Thursday’s Slate

Alcorn Central can pull even with a win Thursday night, but a Booneville team with 16 victories stands between the Lady Bears and a .500 record. Their 6:30 p.m. meeting in Glen gives Central a chance to build on Tuesday’s four-set win at Mantachie—and gives the Blue Devils an immediate opportunity to respond to a sweep by Kossuth.

Central enters 8–9 overall and 2–1 in district play; Booneville brings a 16–7 record and a 3–1 district mark to the conference matchup. Hadley Butler supplied 15 kills in Central’s latest victory, while Caitlee Kyle and Lola Hollis each recorded 19 assists. That production helped the Lady Bears close out Mantachie after losing the third set.

The September 10 girls’ varsity volleyball schedule keeps all four county teams at home. Corinth opens the evening against Nettleton at 6 p.m. Biggersville welcomes Itawamba Agricultural at 6:30, alongside Central’s match, before Kossuth hosts Belmont at 7. Biggersville is coming off a 3–0 win over Jumpertown; Kossuth’s 25–20, 25–13, 25–13 victory at Booneville raised the Aggies to 18–4.

Friday, September 11, shifts the attention to football, with every varsity kickoff listed for 7 p.m. Kossuth hosts Tishomingo County, while Corinth travels to Houston. Alcorn Central heads to North Pontotoc in Ecru, and Biggersville visits East Webster in Maben.
