Butler’s 15 Kills Lead Central, Kossuth Gets Big 3A Win Over Booneville

Mantachie extended the match. Alcorn Central made sure it went no further. After dropping the third set Tuesday night, the Lady Bears answered with a 25–13 finish, closing out a four-set road victory behind 15 kills from Hadley Butler.

The 25–21, 25–16, 22–25, 25–13 result on September 8 put Central at 8–9 and Mantachie at 2–11. It also helped give Alcorn County a 3-for-3 night in varsity volleyball: Kossuth swept Booneville on the road, and Biggersville beat Jumpertown in straight sets at home. All three victories came in conference play.

Butler led Central’s 44-kill attack and added 10 digs. Haizley Barber contributed nine kills and Audrey Farr had seven. Caitlee Kyle and Lola Hollis each distributed 19 assists, and Kyle supplied six of the Lady Bears’ 16 aces. Autumn Duckworth added four aces and matched Butler with 10 digs in the posted match statistics.

Kossuth needed just three sets to earn its 18th win. The Aggies opened with a 25–20 victory at Booneville, then allowed only 13 points in each of the final two sets to complete the 3–0 sweep. Kossuth moved to 18–4; the Blue Devils slipped to 16–7.

For Biggersville, Tuesday brought a welcome second victory in a difficult season. The Lions’ 3–0 home win over Jumpertown lifted them to 2–17 and left the Cardinals 2–11. Individual statistics and set scores were not posted for that match; Kossuth’s report also lacked individual totals.

Booneville’s next stop is Alcorn Central on Thursday, September 10, while Kossuth returns home to face Belmont. Corinth, with no Tuesday varsity contest listed on its calendars, hosts Nettleton in volleyball Thursday at 6 p.m.
