State Races, Kossuth–Central Clash Pack Thursday’s Schedule

State-championship races in the morning, a county football matchup at night: Thursday gives Alcorn Central and Kossuth two very different competitive tests. Their cross-country runners head to Clinton before the Golden Bears host the Aggies at 7 p.m. October 29, with both football teams carrying 2–1 region records into the regular-season finale.
Kossuth, 5–3, has won two straight after beating Mantachie 38–6. Central, 5–4, seeks to end a two-game slide on senior night. Corinth, 5–3 and 3–0 in its region, travels to 6–2 New Albany for another 7 p.m. Thursday kickoff. Biggersville’s next football opponent and date remain unavailable; its posted schedule ends with the October 22 visit to Smithville.
The MHSAA state cross-country timetable puts Central’s and Kossuth’s Class 3A girls on Choctaw Trails’ Watson course at 10 a.m. Thursday, followed by the boys at 10:35. Biggersville’s Class 1A girls race at 12:40 p.m., its boys at 1:15. Corinth’s Class 4A girls run Saturday, October 31, at 2 p.m., with the boys following at 2:35. Saturday also brings basketball scrimmages. Central’s girls host Myrtle at 9 a.m.; the boys’ first listed matchup is home against Falkner at 9:30. Corinth’s girls host Myrtle at 10. Kossuth’s boys are listed at Corinth at 10, although the Warriors also list Ripley at that same time. Biggersville’s girls face Thrasher at 9:45 a.m.; the site remains unconfirmed. Kossuth’s girls next visit Hatley November 3 at 7 p.m. Biggersville’s boys next appear at home against Tishomingo County November 17 at 7:30 p.m.
Corinth’s soccer teams open their posted schedules November 3 at DeSoto Central, the girls at 5 p.m. and boys at 7. Central’s next boys’ and girls’ soccer fixtures are unavailable.
On the lanes, Kossuth’s girls list East Union November 3 at 3:30 p.m., with the venue unspecified. Corinth’s boys and girls list a three-school match with Biggersville and Kossuth November 4 at 3:30 p.m. at Plaza Lanes; that is the next identifiable matchup for Biggersville’s and Kossuth’s boys. Biggersville’s girls have an earlier November 2, 3:30 p.m. entry with conflicting opponent details.
