Corinth Girls Take Division Title to State; Regional Races Fill Thursday

October 19, 2026 • Varsity outlook following Sunday, October 18. All times Central.

Corinth’s girls golfers take their division title to Dancing Rabbit for the October 19–20 Class II state championship, opening a week that also sends all four Alcorn County schools to cross-country regionals.

Hillandale Golf Course confirmed Corinth’s division title and state advancement after the October 13 competition. The district calendar lists two days of championship play; the MHSAA host list places Class II girls at Dancing Rabbit. Tee times were unavailable.

Kossuth’s school calendar also lists girls state beginning Monday, October 19. For boys golf, Corinth and Alcorn Central list October 26–27 championships, while Kossuth lists an October 26 start. The state sites are Dancing Rabbit for Corinth’s Class 4A boys and Briarwood Golf Club in Meridian for the Class 3A boys. Those calendar entries remain subject to confirmed qualification.

Thursday, October 22, brings the county’s eight boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams to New Albany’s BNA Park soccer/tennis complex and Tallahatchie Trails. Under the host’s race schedule, Alcorn Central, Kossuth and Corinth girls start at 10 a.m., followed by their boys at 10:30. Biggersville girls race at 11 a.m. and boys at 11:30. Results will be separated by region.

Biggersville has a second assignment that evening: a 7 p.m. football trip to Smithville. The Lions enter 2–6 and 0–1 in region play, seeking their first league victory after a 44–0 loss to Tupelo Christian Prep.

Friday, October 23, pairs Alcorn Central, 5–3 overall and 2–0 in its region, with unbeaten Booneville on the road at 7 p.m. The 7–0 Blue Devils await a Golden Bears team whose four-game winning streak ended against Mooreville, 28–20, without affecting its region record.

At the same time Friday, Corinth visits Amory and Kossuth hosts Mantachie. Corinth is 5–2 and has outscored three region opponents 169–7. Kossuth, 4–3 and 1–1 in its region, follows a 44–28 victory at Belmont.

The four local girls volleyball seasons are complete, with Kossuth finishing 30–5 after its October 16 state-final loss to Our Lady Academy.

Coverage note: No October 18 varsity result was verified; that does not establish that no events occurred. Golf fields and tee times remain incomplete, including Kossuth’s state participation. Next confirmed outings were unavailable for Alcorn Central girls golf and Biggersville boys and girls golf.
