Kossuth, Central Bring Matching Region Records to Thursday Finale

October 29, 2026 • Varsity outlook following Wednesday, October 28. All times Central.

Kossuth and Alcorn Central reach tonight’s football finale with identical 2–1 region records and sharply different recent results. The Aggies take two consecutive victories into the 7 p.m. October 29 game at Central, where the Golden Bears will try to end a two-game slide on senior night.

Kossuth, 5–3, beat Mantachie 38–6 last Friday; Central, 5–4, fell 42–6 at Booneville. Their Class 3A Region 1 meeting shares the evening with Corinth’s trip to New Albany. The Warriors enter 5–3 overall and unbeaten in three region games; the 6–2 Bulldogs host at 7 p.m.

Before kickoff, state cross-country competition opens at Choctaw Trails’ Watson course in Clinton. Under the MHSAA timetable, Central’s and Kossuth’s Class 3A girls race today at 10 a.m., followed by their boys at 10:35. Biggersville’s Class 1A girls start at 12:40 p.m. and boys at 1:15. Corinth’s Class 4A girls run Saturday, October 31, at 2 p.m.; the boys follow at 2:35. Current meet entries include runners of both genders from every school.

Saturday’s basketball scrimmages begin early. Central’s girls host Myrtle at 9 a.m., and its boys first face Falkner at home at 9:30. Corinth’s girls host Myrtle at 10. The Kossuth boys’ schedule puts them at Corinth at 10, although the Warriors also list Ripley at that hour.

Biggersville’s girls meet Thrasher October 31 at 9:45 a.m., with the site unconfirmed. Kossuth’s girls next visit Hatley November 3 at 7 p.m. Biggersville’s boys have a longer wait on their posted slate: Tishomingo County visits November 17 at 7:30 p.m.

Corinth’s soccer teams travel to DeSoto Central November 3, the girls playing at 5 p.m. and boys at 7. Bowling starts sooner for Biggersville: its boys list Tishomingo County November 2 at 3:30 p.m., with the bowling venue unconfirmed. Its girls have a same-day, same-time entry with conflicting opponent details.

Kossuth’s boys and girls list East Union November 3 at 3:30 p.m. at an unspecified neutral venue. Corinth’s boys and girls next list a three-school match with Biggersville and Kossuth November 4 at 3:30 p.m. at Plaza Lanes.

Schedule note: No October 28 varsity result was verified; missing reports do not establish that no events occurred. Next fixtures remain unavailable for Biggersville football, Central’s boys’ and girls’ soccer and bowling, either gender’s golf at all four schools, local powerlifting and Corinth wrestling. All four volleyball seasons have concluded. Confirm the conflicting Corinth boys’ scrimmage and Biggersville girls’ bowling listings before traveling.
