Kossuth’s State Final Opens a Five-Game Friday

October 16, 2026 • Varsity outlook following Thursday, October 15. All times Central.

Kossuth can make its 23rd consecutive volleyball victory a state championship this morning. The 30–4 Lady Aggies meet 30–10 Our Lady Academy at 10 a.m. Friday, October 16, in the Class 3A final at Mississippi Christian University’s A.E. Wood Coliseum, opening a day that ends with all four county football teams in action.

The MHSAA championship schedule places the match on a neutral court. Kossuth has swept Edwards, Nettleton, Alcorn Central and Belmont in the playoffs; its 22-match winning streak dates to August 24. Central, Corinth and Biggersville have completed their volleyball seasons, with no further matches listed.

Tonight’s four football kickoffs are all at 7 p.m. Alcorn Central, 5–2 and unbeaten in three home games, hosts 3–4 Mooreville while seeking a fifth straight victory. The Bears beat Mantachie 39–14 last Friday.

At Corinth, two 4–2 teams meet when Tishomingo County visits for the Warriors’ homecoming game. Corinth has opened region play 2–0, outscoring South Pontotoc and North Pontotoc a combined 114–7. Biggersville, coming off a 16–6 win at Walnut, takes a 2–5 record into its region opener at home against 7–0 Tupelo Christian Prep. Kossuth, 3–3, travels to Belmont for its next region game.

Cross-country’s next listed varsity stop brings the boys’ and girls’ teams from all four schools to New Albany on Thursday, October 22. At BNA Park’s soccer/tennis complex and Tallahatchie Trails, the regional meet timetable starts Central, Kossuth and Corinth’s girls at 10 a.m. and boys at 10:30. Biggersville’s girls race at 11 and boys at 11:30; each region is scored separately.

Corinth’s girls golfers next have the October 19–20 state championship at Dancing Rabbit in Philadelphia on the school calendar. Kossuth also lists girls’ state golf beginning October 19. The Class II girls’ venue is Dancing Rabbit.

Boys’ state golf follows October 26–27: Corinth’s calendar lists that event, with the 4A tournament at Dancing Rabbit; Central and Kossuth list state dates as well, with 3A boys assigned to Briarwood Golf Club in Meridian. Those calendar entries do not establish qualification.

Schedule and reporting note: Golf tee times and unconfirmed qualifying fields remain unavailable, along with Central’s next confirmed girls’ golf event and Biggersville’s next boys’ and girls’ golf outings. No October 15 varsity outcomes were verified; golf and unreported-meet coverage remains incomplete. Missing reports do not establish that no events were played.
