Kossuth’s 22-Match Streak Reaches Friday’s State Final
October 15, 2026 • Varsity outlook following Wednesday, October 14. All times Central.
Kossuth has swept four playoff opponents. One more victory would turn a 22-match winning streak into a Class 3A girls volleyball championship.
The 30–4 Lady Aggies face 30–10 Our Lady Academy at 10 a.m. Friday, October 16, at Mississippi College’s A.E. Wood Coliseum in Clinton. The MHSAA championship schedule confirms the neutral-site final. Kossuth advanced by beating Belmont 25–15, 25–10, 25–20 on Monday, its fourth consecutive postseason sweep. Alcorn Central, Corinth and Biggersville have completed their volleyball seasons; none has another varsity match listed.
Friday evening brings football to all four schools’ schedules, with every kickoff at 7 p.m. Corinth hosts Tishomingo County in a meeting of 4–2 teams. The Warriors have won their first two region games, outscoring South Pontotoc and North Pontotoc a combined 114–7, and now return home for another district test.
Alcorn Central, 5–2 overall and 2–0 in its region, hosts Mooreville. Biggersville, 2–5 after a 16–6 victory at Walnut, welcomes Tupelo Christian Prep for its region opener. Kossuth’s 3–3 football team travels to Belmont.
Cross-country’s next listed varsity stop for all four schools is Thursday, October 22, in New Albany. At the BNA Park soccer/tennis complex and Tallahatchie Trails, Alcorn Central, Kossuth and Corinth girls race at 10 a.m., followed by their boys at 10:30. Biggersville girls start at 11 a.m. and boys at 11:30. The host’s regional timetable groups the races but scores each region separately.
Corinth’s girls golfers next have the October 19–20 Class II state championship, following their division title at Hillandale. The MHSAA host list places that tournament at Dancing Rabbit. Corinth’s boys calendar next lists state October 26–27, also at Dancing Rabbit for Class 4A.
For Central and Kossuth, the next school-calendar golf entries are girls state October 19–20 and boys state October 26–27. The relevant championship sites are Dancing Rabbit for Class II girls and Briarwood Golf Club for Class 3A boys. Confirmed next events for Biggersville’s boys and girls golfers remain unavailable.
Schedule note: No October 14 varsity result was verified; that does not establish that no events were played. Golf tee times and state qualification for Central and Kossuth boys and girls, and Corinth boys, remain unconfirmed. School-calendar championship entries are conditional, rather than confirmation of participation.
