Central Sweeps Horse Creek; Corinth Girls Take Golf Division

October 14, 2026 • Varsity results from Tuesday, October 13. All times Central.

Autry Wilbanks won the girls’ 5K by more than 30 seconds, and Alcorn Central left the Horse Creek Invitational with both varsity cross-country team titles Tuesday. The girls scored 33 points to runner-up University School of Jackson’s 68; the boys had much less room to spare, edging host Hardin County 58–61 at Horse Creek Wildlife and Animal Sanctuary in Savannah, Tennessee.

Wilbanks finished in 21:57.15, ahead of Hadley Haltom’s 22:28.57. Central put all five girls in the first 14: Jackie Nunley was fifth in 24:56.57, Haddy Moore sixth in 25:05.70, Maggie Jones ninth in 25:53.81 and Maddie Jones 14th in 27:34.88. That group secured a 35-point winning margin in the completed meet results.

Parker Price led the Central boys in second place at 19:33.47, behind Madison Academic’s Jonas Craig (19:09.22). Saul Morales finished eighth in 20:16.15 and Chadwick Potter 12th in 20:53.15. Eli Kennamore, 27th in 24:01.81, and Ayden Robinson, 41st in 26:28.26, completed the Bears’ scoring five. Their combined 58 points held off Hardin County’s tighter group, which placed its five scorers between 13th and 23rd overall.

Kossuth’s girls took third among eight scoring teams with 69 points, just one behind University School of Jackson. Abbigail McGee finished fourth in 23:47.00 and Zoey Mullins seventh in 25:17.57. Adeline Williams was 19th in 28:29.94, Sophie Flanagan 23rd in 28:54.13 and Anzley Newman 25th in 29:06.17.

Ty Simmons gave Kossuth another fourth-place finish in the boys’ race, running 19:43.73. The Aggies placed seventh among seven scoring teams with 145 points.

Back in Corinth, the Lady Warriors claimed the Class II (3A/4A) girls golf division championship at Hillandale. The host course announced the title and state advancement Tuesday; Corinth’s athletics calendar lists the girls’ state championship for October 19–20. Team totals and individual round scores were not supplied in the announcement.

Friday’s football schedule brings all four schools back into action October 16 at 7 p.m. Alcorn Central (5–2) hosts Mooreville, while Corinth (4–2) hosts Tishomingo County, also 4–2. Biggersville (2–5) opens region play at home against unbeaten Tupelo Christian Prep (7–0), and Kossuth (3–3) travels to Belmont.

Reporting note: Central also scheduled girls golf regionals at Hillandale Tuesday, but its finish and complete golf standings were not verified. No additional Tuesday varsity results were verified for the four schools; missing reports do not establish that an event was not played.
