Kossuth Sweeps Belmont, Carries 22-Match Streak Into State Final

October 13, 2026 • Varsity results from Monday, October 12. All times Central.

Kossuth completed its fourth straight playoff sweep Monday, turning a 25–15, 25–10, 25–20 victory over Belmont into a berth in Friday’s Class 3A girls volleyball final.

The Lady Aggies reached 30 wins and extended their winning streak to 22 matches with the home semifinal victory. Belmont finished 16–19. The match box score records Kossuth holding the Cardinals to 15 points in the opener and 10 in the second set before closing out the third by five.

Belmont became the fourth opponent Kossuth has beaten without dropping a set in this postseason, following Edwards, Nettleton and Alcorn Central. The 30–4 Aggies have lost just one set during the winning streak that began August 24, and Monday’s result gave them a third straight-set victory over Belmont this season.

One match remains. Our Lady Academy, 30–10 after sweeping Presbyterian Christian in the other semifinal, will face Kossuth at 10 a.m. Friday, October 16. The MHSAA championship schedule places the final at Mississippi College’s A.E. Wood Coliseum.

Friday also brings football back to all four county schools. Alcorn Central, 5–2 after four consecutive victories, hosts Mooreville at 7 p.m. Corinth and Tishomingo County carry matching 4–2 records into the Warriors’ 7 p.m. homecoming game in Corinth.

Biggersville, 2–5 after its 16–6 win at Walnut, opens region play at home against unbeaten, 7–0 Tupelo Christian Prep at 7 p.m. Kossuth’s 3–3 football team travels to Belmont for a 7 p.m. region game. Those fixtures appear on the schools’ current MaxPreps schedules: Central, Corinth, Biggersville and Kossuth.

Before then, Central and Kossuth are registered for today’s Hardin County–Horse Creek cross-country invitational in Savannah, Tennessee. The host’s updated schedule starts varsity boys at 4:30 p.m. and girls at approximately 5 p.m. at Horse Creek Wildlife and Animal Sanctuary.

Reporting note: Monday individual volleyball statistics were unavailable. Central’s calendar listed boys golf regionals at Hillandale, and Kossuth listed a golf division event; verified results were unavailable for either. Other golf and cross-country reporting remains incomplete. Unreported results do not establish that an event was not played.
