Corinth Takes Playoff Road to Mooreville; Kossuth Defends Streak
Corinth’s volleyball season has outlasted its losing record. After sweeping Senatobia in Saturday’s playoff opener, the 6–16 Lady Warriors face a 19–6 Mooreville team Tuesday, October 6, in the second round. The Corinth schedule lists a 6 p.m. start; the host’s ticket listing places the match at Mooreville High School.
Corinth is one of three county girls varsity teams still moving through the bracket. Kossuth brings a 27–4 record and 19 consecutive wins into its home match with Nettleton, 12–16. The Lady Aggies’ ticket page gives Tuesday’s start as 5:30 p.m. Alcorn Central, 11–19, also plays at 5:30, traveling to Winona, 6–21, as confirmed by Winona’s event listing. Central swept Yazoo County in the first round. Biggersville has no further varsity volleyball fixture listed after its October 3 playoff loss to Ingomar.
The next football games arrive Friday, October 9. Central hosts Mantachie at 7 p.m. with both teams 4–2; the Golden Bears have won three straight. Biggersville visits Walnut at 7. Corinth travels to North Pontotoc for a 7 p.m. kickoff on the host’s October 9 ticket listing and the Warriors’ school calendar. Kossuth’s next listed game is at Belmont on Friday, October 16, at 7 p.m.
Regional golf begins sooner. Corinth’s boys are scheduled for regionals Tuesday, October 6, and its girls Tuesday, October 13; neither venue nor tee time is posted. Central’s boys regionals are October 12 at Hillandale, with the girls following there October 13; start times are unavailable. Kossuth’s calendar lists a division tournament October 12 without identifying the boys’ or girls’ field, course or time. Separate next events for Kossuth’s boys and girls and Biggersville’s boys and girls golf teams remain unconfirmed.
For Central’s and Kossuth’s boys and girls cross-country teams, the next meet is the October 13 Hardin County–Horse Creek Invitational at Horse Creek Wildlife Sanctuary in Savannah, Tennessee. A Monday update moved the varsity boys’ start to 4:30 p.m. and the girls’ race to approximately 5 p.m.
Corinth and Biggersville next list varsity cross-country at the October 22 regional at BNA Park/Tallahatchie Trails in New Albany. The host’s timetable puts Corinth’s girls at 10 a.m. and boys at 10:30; Biggersville’s girls race at 11 and boys at 11:30.
All times are Central. No October 5 varsity result was verified; reporting gaps do not establish that no competition occurred. Confirm conflicting listings before traveling: MaxPreps labels Corinth volleyball neutral and Central at home, and dates Corinth football October 8; Kossuth’s general calendar gives volleyball at 6 p.m. The venues, football date and Kossuth start above follow official school or ticket listings. Golf details remain incomplete.
