Lopez, Three County Schools Line Up for Topper Trails
Silvestre Lopez is listed for another 5-kilometer race Thursday, five days after finishing second in Saltillo’s large-school boys event in 16:19.1. The Corinth runner is among the Topper Trails High School Classic entries, alongside boys and girls from Biggersville and Kossuth. All three schools are headed to Blue Mountain Christian University for the first of two local cross-country dates this week.
The host’s schedule has the varsity girls’ 5K at 4:15 p.m. and boys’ 5K at 5 p.m. Thursday. Corinth’s Emma Ganus and Maya Gomez also appear in the girls’ field. Alcorn Central’s girls and boys are entered in Saturday’s South Pontotoc Invitational, where their 1A–4A races start at 8 and 8:45 a.m., respectively. Central’s Parker Price, runner-up in Saltillo’s small-school boys race in 17:36.1, is on the boys’ entry list.
Thursday’s volleyball slate gives Kossuth another chance to extend its 15-match winning streak. The Aggies (23–4, 5–0 in district play) visit Mantachie (3–15) at 6:30 p.m., two days after a three-set win at Alcorn Central. Central (9–17) goes to Belmont (9–17) at 6:30. Biggersville (3–21), coming off a straight-sets win at Jumpertown, hosts Pine Grove (17–10) at 5:30.
Corinth’s next school-listed volleyball date is Saturday’s Hickory Flat tournament; opponents and a start time were not posted. Its next specific matchup on MaxPreps is Monday at New Albany, 6:30 p.m. Corinth’s September 22 North Pontotoc score remains unreported.
Friday football brings Alcorn Central (2–2) to Biggersville (1–3) for a 7 p.m. county game. Kossuth (2–2) visits North Pontotoc (2–2) at 7. Corinth (2–2) has a bye and next hosts South Pontotoc at 7 p.m. October 2, as listed on the teams’ current schedules.
In golf, Kossuth lists a Thursday trip to BCC at 3 p.m.; Central lists a nine-hole event at Hillandale on Tuesday, September 29, without a tee time. Corinth’s calendar next shows the MSU Invitational on October 1, also without a start time.
