Kossuth Chases Win No. 20; Corinth Hosts Biggersville to Open the Week
Kossuth can turn an 11-match winning streak into a 20-win season Monday night. The Aggies host Ripley at 6 p.m. September 14, opening a week that also brings a Corinth–Biggersville volleyball matchup, four Friday football games and a Saturday trip to Saltillo for local runners.
At 19–4, Kossuth enters the Ripley match after consecutive straight-sets district victories over Booneville and Belmont. Ripley brings a 10–10 record. The Aggies then host Mantachie Tuesday and Alcorn Central Thursday, both at 7 p.m., making Monday the first of three home dates in four days.
Across the county, Corinth welcomes Biggersville Monday at 6:30 p.m. The Warriors’ latest reported victory was a 3–1 win over Nettleton on September 10; their listed record is 2–14, while Biggersville stands 2–18. Alcorn Central’s next varsity match is Tuesday at Ripley at 6:30 p.m. The Lady Bears are 9–14 after playing five matches Saturday.
Friday, September 18, brings three home football games and one road assignment, all with 7 p.m. kickoffs. Corinth hosts Pontotoc, Alcorn Central hosts Walnut, and Kossuth hosts Nettleton. Biggersville travels to Booneville. Corinth is 2–1; Central, Kossuth and Biggersville each enter the week 1–2.
The next cross-country date on both Corinth’s calendar and Central’s calendar is Saturday, September 19, at Saltillo High School. The host’s race schedule puts their 1A–4A varsity girls’ 5K at 5 p.m. and boys’ 5K at 5:45 p.m. Kossuth’s boys’ and girls’ next listed meet is the September 24 Topper Trails High School Classic at Blue Mountain Christian University’s cross-country trails: varsity girls at 4:15 p.m., boys at 5 p.m.
Golf comes sooner. Corinth’s next calendar entry is September 15 at Tupelo Christian Prep. Central and Kossuth both list an 18-hole event at Hillandale on September 16. Tee times and complete fields are not posted, and those calendars do not separate boys’ and girls’ participation.
Schedule note: All times are Central. Biggersville’s next boys’ and girls’ cross-country meets and golf events could not be verified; separate boys’ and girls’ golf schedules also remain unavailable for the other three schools. No verified September 13 varsity results were found in the sources checked, which does not establish that no events occurred. Corinth’s September 12 volleyball entry at Booneville still lacks a reported score.
