Kossuth went on the road and picked up a thrilling win over the Bearcats of Baldwyn on Friday night, bringing home a 34-33 win to start the season.
The Aggies struck first late in the first quarter on a Kota Wilhite 3 yard touchdown run. Kossuth would add another first half touchdown through the air to give Kossuth a 13-7 halftime lead.
The second half would start with a bang as Baldwyn marched down the field on a 68 yard drive to take a 14-13 lead in what would become a back and forth contest.
The lead would change hands 3 times over the final quarter and a half, with Baldwyn scoring on a scoop and score fumble to give them the lead. Kossuth would answer back for a 34-27 lead to which Baldwyn answered with a kickoff return touchdown. A failed extra point would have the Aggies clinging to a 34-33 lead with 2:43 to play.
Baldwyn would get a stop and the ball back with 1 minute to play, but Kossuth would seal the game with fumble recovery to come away with the 34-33 victory. Wilhite led the Aggies with 278 total yards and four touchdowns.
