Lions use furious comeback late to defeat Pine Grove and clinch top spot in district

The Biggersville Lions found themselves in an unfamiliar position against Pine Grove on Tuesday. They were down in the fourth quarter on the road.

Biggersville roared back to life on the backs of their leaders.

The Lions outscored Pine Grove 30-14 in the final frame and picked up a 71-59 win to get the road win and lock up the top seed in district 1-1A.

Pine Grove did a good job on Hunter Stacy for the first three quarters, holding him to just 5 points and 5 turnovers.

It’s hard to keep a good player down, though.

The senior sharpshooter from Biggersville exploded for 19 points in the final quarter to finish the night with a game high 24.

The victory moved the Lions to 19-1 on the season.

On top of Stacy’s 24, Zae Davis contributed 19 and Te’lick Barnett put up 11.

In girls action, the Lady Lions fell to the Lady Panthers 57-24.

Biggersville was led by Asia Stanford with 10. The loss dropped their season record to 8-7.
