Mayes Leads Biggersville Past Tishomingo County With Explosive Performance

Biggersville moved to 2-0 on the season Friday night, riding a dominant outing from quarterback Xae Mayes to a 45-12 road victory over Tishomingo County in the first-ever matchup between the two schools.

Mayes accounted for more than 300 yards of total offense, scoring five total touchdowns. He evened the game early with a 35-yard run, then tossed touchdown passes of 13 and 30 yards to Zialis Blackmon and Brooks Seago. Before halftime, Mayes broke loose again on a 42-yard scoring run, and he wasted little time in the second half, racing 40 yards to the end zone on the Lions’ opening possession.

Seago later hauled in his second touchdown reception of the night — a 51-yarder from Mayes midway through the third quarter. Tishomingo County’s Braxton Brown provided a spark with a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, but Biggersville answered with a four-yard scoring run by Jayce Taylor to cap the win.

The Lions will host East Webster next Friday in their home opener, while the Braves return to action at home against Kossuth.
